Our club offers a happy and fun environment where we strive for lessons to be a positive, enjoyable experience. We want everyone to leave their lessons with smiles or at least something to think about! Whether you ride a donkey, show pony or anything in between, our coaches will do their best to develop your skill and partnership with your equine friend.
PLEASE READ THROUGH THE IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT OUR CLUB BELOW.
This information can also be found on the Member Home page when you log in to the membership portal.
Riding Groups
We endeavour to provide coaching for all levels of ability. The head coach and ride coaches will work together early in the season to assess the riders. Groups will be formed based on what we know and understand about each combination. Riders will be reassessed during the season and some groups may change. We may also change around the coaches from time to time or bring in guest coaches, depending on availability of the coaches.
We hope to provide each rider with equal time and focus, however it is important to remember sometimes things don’t always go to plan and horses and riders can be unpredictable, so rides may vary from time to time.
Rallies
Our rallies run from 5.20-7pm on Wednesdays. The Team Reach app is used to manage attendance and coach planning for each rally. All members need to confirm their attendance before each rally so we can confirm coaches.
At the start of the season we will be riding at Woodhill Sands for the first four rallies. There is a ground fee of $60 for the four rallies that must be paid before the first rally.
Rallies start at 5.20pm with a mounted meeting outside the clubrooms for ALL parents and riders. Attendance is required for the rally to start.
- At this meeting there will be updates on any club news.
- The plan for the rally will be shared with parents expected to help with any setup required.
- Your horse/pony should tacked up and ready to ride.
- You need to be wearing correct Pony Club uniform – Helmet, jodhpurs, boots, Pony Club shirt.
During lessons we expect riders and parents to treat the Coaches with respect and courtesy. There is no tolerance for rudeness or a poor attitude. Good communication is vital to a great relationship between coach, pupil and parent.
Food at Rallies
We are keen to organise some sort of food for our riders and parents after rallies to encourage interaction between our members and make it easier on families to fit in dinner on rally nights. We will ask for input at the start of the season on what this might look like and who can help make it happen.
Respect for our grounds
Please look after our grounds.
- Pick up any litter, hay or horse poo around your float or car before you leave to keep our grounds looking neat and tidy.
- The car park must be left with no horse poo or hay on the surface.
- Do not put horse poo around the trees.
- Leave the gates as you found them.
- Leave the clubhouse tidy.
- If you use the BBQ please clean up afterwards and do the dishes.
- Report any damage to a member of the committee as soon as you notice it.
Communication
Your input is valued in our club. Should you have any queries or feedback please do not hesitate to reach out to anyone on the committee.
You will receive notices about the club via Team Reach, email and Facebook.
Achievement Cards
Achievement cards are kept for each child to track their progress towards their certificates. The cards will be kept by the Coach during the rallies. You can ask to see your child’s card at any time and we encourage you to monitor your child’s progress on the cards.
Note: If you are coming from another club it is up to you to get your child’s card and provide it to the Coach. The card will help us understand where you/your child is at in terms of riding development.
Clinics for theory and horse management will run at times during the season. Clinics can be run by any district branch and we hope you take the opportunity to attend these clinics.
Health and Safety
Our Risk Management Plan is made available to all members at the start of the season. It can also be found in the HPC Club Rooms and on our website. It is important that all members review this regularly.
All falls and accidents need to be recorded in our Accident Record Book. It is the responsibility of everyone to make sure this happens. If medical or veterinary attention has been administered then an Accident Report Form must also be completed.
Club Events
To support the fundraising for our club we run a series of events throughout the season. These events offer our riders a great opportunity to attend events in their local area and build up confidence together with their friends in the club.
These events are also the main source of fundraising for our club. As a member of Helensville Pony Club members and parents are expected to support the set up and running of these events. This could include working bees before the event to prepare equipment and set up for the event, volunteering at the event on the day (i.e. as a writer, steward, taking entries, kitchen, first aid etc), providing baking to sell at the event and helping pack up after the event. The dates for the events are set at the start of the season and shared with all members.
Event Dates
- Camp 7-8th October
- Ribbon Day Saturday 14th December
- Ribbon Day Sunday 5th April
- Twilight Showjumping 3x Thursdays Nights - Dates to be confirmed
- Young Horse Open Night 2x Tuesday Nights - Dates to be confirmed
Gear Use outside of rallies
Pony Club members that are also A&P Showgrounds Key Holder members can use any HPC gear that has been left out. Please note jump poles must not be used as trotting poles or left on the grass. We have designated poles that can be used for trotting poles that will be pointed out at the start of the season.
