Welcome to Brighton Pony Club.
We are a small club dedicated to providing a fun and safe environment for children to learn to ride and to advance their riding and horsemanship skills. We are very focused on undertaking NZPCA certificate work so that our riders can obtain the appropriate certificate for their age and riding level. Riders will be grouped according to their certificate level, where possible. We try to maintain small group sizes so that each child gets quality instruction and attention. All our instructors are volunteers. We expect our members to show respect to our instructors and adhere to the NZPCA Code of Conduct and Fair Play Charter. We ask that parents do not interfere with the coaches - any questions or concerns should be directed to the coach or head coach after the lesson (unless there is a real safety concern).
Brighton Pony Club is a branch of the Dunedin District Pony Club. Other branches include Dunedin, Saddleview, West Harbour and Peninsula pony clubs.
Our head coach is Kirsty Foster.
President: Shea Davie
Treasurer: Justine Ragg
Secretary: Zara Mchoull
Rally Organiser: Michelle Mason
Our riding season is from early September to early May. Rallies are held every Wednesday night, starting at 5:45 for gear inspection. The actual rally start time is at 6.00. Gear inspection must be performed for safety reasons. At gear inspection, the rider and mount will be scored for presentation and turnout. Any riders who are late to gear inspection will not be scored.
Every riding member under 18 years must have an adult become an Adult Member of the Brighton Pony Club. A supervising adult must be present at rallies for any child under 12 years.
Riders are not eligible to compete in open Pony Club events until they are full financial members of NZPCA.
You are allowed to attend 3 BPC rallies to decide if you wish to join the Brighton Pony Club. Please pay your membership if you intend to come after your third rally.
Riders must be a financial member of Brighton Pony Club to be a member of any Brighton Pony Club team, and must have 5 working rallies completed by date of competition (see Team Selection policy document).
