Staying Safe at Ferrymead Pony Club

Welcome to Ferrymead Pony Club Membership Portal

Info for new members, important information to ensure your membership is entered correctly in nominate:

We require that members wanting to join under 18 years of age have an Adult who is the parent/guardian join the club over the age 18 who must join as the primary member either as an adult member, an adult riding member.  Then under 18 riding member may then be added as a family member. 

We also ask any new members wanting to join us to please contact the club committee with an email introducing themselves and a little about the level of riding and if they have their own pony/horse, or if wanting to join to be able to use the grounds a little about yourself and your riding,  emails can be sent to ferrymeadponyclub13@gmail.com

Our season membership runs from the 1st March to the end of February every year.  Joining part way through the season please contact ferrymeadponyclub13@gmail.com for more info.  

You can edit your/your riders information at renewal and throughout the year via the nominate portal.

 

We expect all members, their family members, friends and attendees of Ferrymead Pony Club activities and events to adhere to the New Zealand Pony Club Code of Conduct.

 

Aim: To provide a safe, enjoyable enviroment for members, guests and the public

  1. Members under the age of 14 must be accompanied by a responsible adult (18 years of age or over).
  2. Jumping is only permitted under the supervision of a responsible adult (18 years of age or over).
  3. Even if you are over 14 years of age, it's always better to ride and handle your horse when another responsible person is around.  Horses are unpredictable and if an accident happens another person can assist you and, if necessary, call for help.
  4. Helments that meet the NZPCA approved standard (yellow tagged) are to be worn at all times when mounted.
  5. Back/body protectors are compulsory when jumping solid fences (any fence that cannot be knocked down).  From 2020, NZPCA will resuire back protectors to meet BETA EN13158 2009 Level 3 or ASTM F1937 standards.
  6. When riding, wear smooth-soled footwear with heels to prevent your foot getting caught or sliding through the stirrup.  Wear sturdy, closed-in footwear when working around horses.
  7. The driveway gate is to be kept closed at all times.
  8. Vehicles must stay within 15 km/hr limit.
  9. Drivers be aware of horses and people at all times. Passengers please don't ride on the outside of vehicles, floats or trailers.
  10. Dogs are welcome on a lead, tied up or secure in a vehicle at all times and must not cause a nuisance to horses, other members, guests or the public.
  11. Horses must be tied up using twine, not directly to posts, gates or other obstacles.  Always tie with a quick-release knot.
  12. Always ride and handle your horse responsible, look after each other and HAVE FUN!
